Free Colorado CDL Permit Practice Test: General Knowledge 2025

  • Perfect for first-time and renewal CDL/CLP applicants, and those adding endorsements.

Welcome! You’re probably here because you want to pass the official General Knowledge test on commercial driving theory, which you must do to obtain a Commercial Learner’s Permit (CLP). We hope you’ve been reading the official Colorado Commercial Driver License Manual (Colorado CDL Handbook 2025) because the official knowledge test questions are based on it. But are you also looking for some additional help to further improve your chances of passing the test?

Well, that’s what we’re here for! We’ve helped thousands of aspiring car drivers and commercial drivers pass their respective knowledge exams, and we’re going to help you too.

This free Colorado CDL permit practice test, one of several we offer, is based on the official manual, just like the official General Knowledge test. The practice test is up to date as of October, 2025. As you practice answering questions about the stuff you’ve been reading in the manual, that material will get easier to remember, increasing your chances of passing the official exam. To make your studying easier, each of the 50 practice questions comes with a helpful hint and an explanation of the correct answer. The practice questions on this test will assess your knowledge of such topics as basic vehicle maneuvers, cargo management, emergency preparedness, and pre-trip inspections. If you need help to answer a question, our automated assistant can give you a hint. If you still miss the question, the assistant can provide you with an explanation of the correct answer.

Once you obtain a Commercial Learner’s Permit (CLP), you can start practicing for the official skills test. Passing the skills test is a necessary step toward obtaining a Commercial Driver’s License (CDL).

Once you hold a CDL, you can start earning real money as a licensed commercial driver. Economic sectors in Colorado’s diversified economy include agriculture (hay, corn, wheat, and beef), high-tech industries such as aerospace, manufacturing, and gold mining and production. All these sectors need truck drivers to transport their products. High-tech industries also need truck drivers to deliver equipment and supplies to them. Bus drivers are employed by public transportation services, both intra-city and inter-city. The state’s tourism industry also employs bus drivers to transport visitors to ski resorts and on tours through mountain towns.

You’ll soon become familiar with Colorado’s major commercial routes. Interstate 25, heavily used by truckers, runs from Wyoming through Denver and then to New Mexico. Interstate 70 runs from Utah to Maryland. Interstate 76 and U.S. Route 285 are used by truckers to transport agricultural products.

Walked in and did General knowledge, air brake, doubles,.
I walked in and did General knowledge, air brake, doubles, triples, tanker, hazmat, school bus and passenger. I did it all on the same day, and I passed with a 97 or 98% something like that. So I was very well prepared and passed the test with ease.

Fast and efficient way to prepare for the exam.
Read the CDL manual, then started to re-read more intensely. But, then I came across driving-tests.org. In one afternoon I learned much more than I would have by just re-reading the manual. This was much more efficient and made me comfortable that I can pass any test.

Best place to get ready for anything cdl.
This hazmat elite training was great for Ms here in colorado I used to for the hazmat elite and for class a and I passed both with ease. My hazmat test at the dmv basically was all the questions from practice test 4 so thank you guys for the great course

Using Driving-tests.org made it super simple to study.
I spent maybe 10 hours answering questions. The marathons questions really solidified my knowledge. I definitely did not need to read the handbook. I think I missed 5 on the general knowledge. I missed three on the air brakes and 1 on the combination vehicles. I was able to complete all 3 tests in less than 40 minutes. The agent administering the test was surprised at how quickly I completed the test. She said they have people from trucking schools that spend hours taking the test and most do not pass the first time.

This test practice site helped me so….
This test practice site helped me so much with the CDL test. I especially appreciated the videos and multiple tests. I passed the computer exam on the first try and I can safely say that I would not have done it without this site.

Best learning tool out there!
I just wanted to let you guys know that this program was the best thing I ever discovered. I took the written CDL B permit test today with the air brake and tanker endorsements, I aced it with flying colors. Out of a total of 95 questions I only got 4 wrong,4! I couldn’t have done it without this program especially with the time crunch that I had. I was told a week ago that I needed to take the exam with zero preparation. This program builds your confidence and teaches you in a way that the information you are learning is being retained. I actually enjoyed learning with this program and I highly recommend it to everyone.

Really helps.
Just going to keep it short and simple. If you are the kind of person who doesn't want to read the DMV handbook; (Regular Class C or Class A/B) reading hours, hours, hours of paragraphs and finding out you scored very low in the actual DMV Test; written or online doesn't matter; it is an awful feeling. Driving test.org is not only a place that provides answers for DMV related questions but it also provides a brief explanation on the question you got right or wrong.

Over the years I’ve used driving-tests….
Over the years I’ve used driving-tests for obtaining all my CDL endorsements. When those endorsements have to be renewed, I use the practice tests to refresh myself before going to the DMV and renewing them. Well, in my opinion.

This site made me pass the CDL Test….
This site made me pass the CDL Test after just two days of dedicated studying! the site reminded me what I should review again, showed me all my problematic questions on one spot and was able to let me know how likely I am going to pass with how much I studied. Best invested!
